Gulf Harbour Marine Village is a totally integrated lifestyle development of the highest quality, setting a new standard for residential property in New Zealand. Originally styled on the beautiful Italian resort of Portofino the Village affords its residents a unique opportunity to reside in a secure, lifestyle environment.

It is a condition of being an owner of a residential dwelling in the Gulf Harbour Marine Village, that the owner is a Member of the Gulf Harbour Marine Village Residents’ Association Inc ("the Association”).

Location
Gulf Harbour is located on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, an unspoilt wonderland, typical of New Zealand's clean and green environment. A coastal playground of leisure and natural beauty, framed by the sparkling waters of the Hauraki Gulf. Gulf Harbour is a residential haven at the centre of one of the world's greatest yachting and boating cruising grounds, just 50 minutes north of Auckland City by car, or 45 minutes by ferry. Auckland, home to 1.7 million people, is New Zealand's largest city, and a major hub for the Pacific region, being served by many of the world's top airlines.

History
The site for the Gulf Harbour development was known for many years as Hobbs Bay after the family that have lived on, and farmed the land since the early 1900's. Gulf Harbour extends over approximately 330 hectares of gently rolling countryside. The family sold the land in the early 1970's. This was the beginning of the development. With the exception of a small area of reclaimed land which is held under a 99 year Crown lease, all land at Gulf Harbour is freehold. The Public Marina seabed is also held under a 99 year lease which expires in 2088. Legal effect to these arrangements was achieved through special legislation passed in 1977, known as the Rodney County Council (Gulf Harbour) Vesting and Empowering Act which allowed for a maximum number of 2,900 dwellings and an overall population for the area, of approximately 7,500.

The Master Plan allowed for the development of the 969 berth marina, residential dwellings, a private canal, world class golf course, a country club, hotel accommodation, restaurants, cafés, shops, a Sunday market and a host of marine servicing businesses. Development of Gulf Harbour originally commenced in the mid 1980s with the Public Marina construction completed in 1988.
