Mooring Lines for your Boat
For repair or replacement of damaged or worn vessel mooring lines or the lines attached to piles for temporary storage of mooring lines while your vessel is away, contact Davy Jones at his locker, telephone
+64 9 428-2434 or on his mobile at +64 21 235-7454.
the GHMVRAI only support Dockline or Flex Line or mooring ropes made from nylon or polyester. we do not allow high strength braid.
Guidelines:
- Mooring lines should be in good condition and directly attached to the berth with a half loop of rope, and not with shackles.
- Due to the new coatings that are used on metal fittings, shackles can cause corrosion to marina fittings - which is a serious maintenance issue,
Over time, lines become frayed and thin, and fenders and floats become UV damaged and disintegrate, breaking up and then polluting the marina. Please replace these items when necessary to keep the marina clean and tidy.
- Please ensure that your fenders don't cover our throughbolts, as our marina crew need regular access to these for tightening. We recommend lifting fenders. Please check in with us before you add fenders or dinghy racks to your berth.
- Polystyrene floats and plastic foam 'noodles' disintigrate over quickly and pollute the water - please don't use these.
If we spot something wrong, we may require berth holders by notice to repair within a specified time. If they still fail to comply, the GHMVRAI may repair the lines on your behalf, and recover associated costs from you. This is a way we can keep the marina safe and secure for everyone.
Davy will order the appropriate rope from the Burnsco ship chandlery store in the size required for your vessel, as necessary. He will then do all the cutting, end sealing and splicing necessary so that your pride and joy will be correctly moored within your berth. You can then be sure that your vessel will not either contact the wall or dock and will not protrude into the fairway during adverse strong wind conditions.
He will even fit the necessary hardware and lines to ensure your mooring lines will hang free of the water during times your vessel is away from the berth.
Please note: It is important that if shackles are used then only Stainless Steel shackles are to be used to attach to the stainless steel mooring rings, do NOT use on galvanized fittings , only use the nylon mooring lines on galvanized fittings
